Following a Court of Appeal ruling, the MIB

MIB - Major policy change

Following a Court of Appeal ruling, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) has entered into a supplementary agreement which fundamentally changes the period of time in which minor claimants can apply for compensation.

The supplementary agreement applies to accidents occurring on or after 1st February 2009. The MIB will also reconsider cases previously rejected under the Untraced Drivers Agreement, where the application had not been made within three years of the incident.

This supplementary agreement effectively changes the periods of limitation in which a claim by a minor can be commenced, bringing them into line with those for personal injury claims in the civil courts.

If a claim made on behalf of an injured child of yours has previously been rejected because more than three years had passed from the date of the accident to the date of submitting a claim, it may be that the claim can be re-submitted for consideration.

If you would like to discuss a previously rejected claim, or would simply like more detailed information regarding the implications of the MIB’s supplementary agreement, Please contact:-
